Vertcoin aims to deploy a new memory-bound proof-of-work algorithm that should assure GPU mining stays competitive in the face of FPGA and ASIC devices. I worked on integrating the protoype code of the proof-of-work algorithm into the Core wallet. Currently the work is pending the release of a GPU miner, after which the hardfork can be deployed.
