I built a prototype implementation of OpenAssets on the Vertcoin network. People can issue their own assets and the transactions are registered on the Vertcoin chain. The client reads the chain and parses any OpenAssets transactions and displays them in the wallet front-end. Even though this project never materialized into a production-used system, it helped me further understand Bitcoin transaction formats and scripting.
